Chapter 8

Monday, May 3, 2010. Mid-morning

I woke up curled into a small ball, warm ferret bodies pressed close to me, cuddled in the crook of my legs. As soon as I stirred, they jumped up and began dancing around the bed. Gimble gave my arm a “good-morning” nip, and I groaned.

“Ease up, girls. Dad had a rough night.”

No sympathy. Gimble started chasing her cousin all around me. I made a good home base and place to hide behind. They were cute to watch, but after the third time Gimble used my stomach as a launching pad, I shooed them off me and staggered into the kitchen for coffee and more Tylenol, in that order.
