an almost comical slide. He recovered quickly, however, and came at me again. I was ready with another shot of pepper spray. His eye was still watering from my blow, and his aim was off. I dodged to one side and triggered another blast. This time he couldn’t see well enough to dodge, and my spray hit him, right in the eye I’d already stabbed.

That was enough for him, and he tucked his tail between his legs and fled, yipping like a puppy whose tail had been stepped on.

It was a good thing he ran because at that moment my potion ran out, and I was left with merely human reactions. I looked around wildly to see if there were any more werewolves coming my way.
