“Then how do we deal with them?” I asked.
“Runner and I discussed that on the way over,” Paul said. “When his people checked out the area during the day, it looked like the wolves meet there both morning and evening.”
“Really?” I asked. “Doesn’t that increase their chance of being discovered?”
Runner nodded. “It does. But we don’t know that they have much choice. The infected ones will get harder to control over time. The older ones will start to jockey for position in their own ranks, and one of them will eventually decide to challenge the natural wolf for leadership.”
