Tuesday, September 8, 2009: mid–morning
The next morning I awoke to the sun shining in my eyes. That didn’t make sense. The curtains in my bedroom usually blocked the sun. I sat up and blearily looked around. As my eyes gradually focused, I saw my living room. I was on the couch with a dim memory of stumbling into my apartment last night, topping off the ferrets’ food and water and collapsing on the couch for a moment to find the energy to get ready for bed. I guess I fell asleep.
Gimble was looking at me through the bars of her cage. “Yeah, little one. I really do feel as bad as I look. Thanks for asking.”
