“You can’t be certain about that.” His voice was flat and toneless.
I gave him a grin. “Sure I can. I’m a warlock. We know these things.”
It was a miserable excuse for a joke, but he gave me a small smile anyway.
We climbed out of the van and went into the house where Runner and…Caitlyn, I was pretty sure, were waiting for us.
“Good to see you up and about, vampire,” Runner said.
“No thanks to you, mangy cur. Where were you when the witch was mopping the floor with me.”
