Paul nodded. "That makes sense."

I sighed and sat back in my seat. "Now if I could only figure out what went wrong with the ritual. It should have worked. So why didn't it?"

“From what you told us, the theory seemed sound,” Caitlyn said. “You know, the reversing the polarity of the energy flow thing.”

I nodded. “Exactly. The exorcism concept should have been sound. It should have forced the energy to return, sort of double back on itself. But instead, nothing happened. Energy moved, but it didn’t break the spell.”
