I looked up and heard creaking above and around me. As I watched, a tiny stream of dust and debris rolled down a nearby wall.

“Dafydd!” Paul yelled. “We need to get out of here right now!”

“I need to take down the circle first. Just letting that much energy go loose isn’t going to help.”

Paul nodded, his expression grave. “All right then, but do it fast.”

I glanced over at Caitlyn. She looked frightened but still steady. “Go ahead. You get out of here,” I said to her.

She shook her head. “Not without you.”

Great. Did I ask for such strong loyalty? Well, maybe I did.
