had to grin at that. It was pretty much the same reaction I'd had when I met him a couple of years ago.

Paul said nothing, just rolled his eyes. I've been a bad influence on him. He didn't used to do that.

"Anyway," I said, getting us back on track. "He's raped two women in this month, and Paul was able to get access to the last crime scene to see if I could read anything from the aura. You do know about aura reading, right?" Time to start testing the limits of her knowledge.

Her eyes shifted to look at the floor. "Uh, I read about it. But I couldn't figure out how to make it work."

I nodded. "That's okay. It's one of the first places we'll start." Oops. Guess her status just changed from "provisional."
