Chapter 17

November 3, 2010. Early morning

Kevin got the call at five in the morning. At first he thought the ringing of his cellphone was part of his dream, a confusing image of a fox playing a fiddle that somehow sounded like a phone. He dragged himself out of the dream and fumbled for the receiver, dropping it twice before getting it to his ear.

“Yeah?”

“Kevin, it’s Eric. They’ve found another body.”

The jolt from that statement woke Kevin more thoroughly than six cups of coffee. “They think it’s the same guy?”

“That’s what they tell me. I just got here, but that’s what the campus police are thinking.”

“Okay. Where?”
