Denise tried to follow him, but classes were just letting out, and the man was quickly lost in the press of students hurrying across campus.

She thought about going back to Jim’s office, but no, that would be silly. The older man was probably also on his way to a class. And surely she hadn’t seen what she thought she’d seen. John was just on her brain, right? Could spirits even be seen during the day, in the middle of a crowded campus, with no shadows nearby?

Danny had been so certain, and now, reluctantly, she was thinking he might have seen something. She was even more glad Jim would be stopping by tonight.
