“You’re sure we’ll be okay?”

He nodded, putting as much conviction in the motion that he could. “Definitely. His presence isn’t that strong. And I’ve got wards up in my house, so there’s nothing to worry about there. Removing the ring from here and placing it behind wards will dull its effect. You and Danny will be safe.” A sudden thought came to him. “When’s the funeral?”

“Three days from now. Why?”

He was smiling. “That’s good. Funerals are rituals, you know. They are a way to send a spirit on its way. After the exorcism and funeral, he’ll be gone. And hopefully at peace.&rdq...
