Chapter 18

Thursday, May 6, 2010. Just Before Midnight

I was the only one in any condition to drive. It seemed odd. The only human in the fight, the one most easily injured, and I didn’t have a scratch on me. Both vampires, however, were in terrible shape, healing, but still weak.

I’d helped Damien and Paul to the car and left them there for a few minutes while I helped Runner gather up the werewolves. All of them were alive, which was a huge relief. I hated losing people. Casi was the least injured of their number, and she drove off, still complaining bitterly that one of her high heels had been lost in all the confusion.
