Chapter 16

Thursday, May 6, 2010. Late Afternoon

“Get what you needed from him?” Mack asked as we walked back to my apartment.

I held up my pack with the holy water. “Yeah. You saw it.”

“Didn’t mean that. I meant the other thing you wanted to talk to him about.”

I nodded, the motion slow. “Yeah, I did. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but yes, everything’s cool.”

“Good.” His head suddenly shot up, and his nostrils widened.

“What?” I shifted my vision. This was becoming a habit I could learn to live without.

Scanning my surroundings.

Green

Yellow

Deep blue

More green

Aquamarine

Shaded yellow and green

Purple

Orange!
