"You say you saw your wife last this morning?"
"Last night when she came home."
"Did you not spend the night here, Mr. Pickman?" His accusatory tone of questioning was starting to annoy me.
"I was working in the basement and fell asleep. Shelley was gone before I got up this morning."
"I see" said the officer, apparently convinced of nothing.
"You say you found her car at the airport?"
"Yes. It was parked in the short-term parking. The only reason anyone noticed was because her purse was still inside it, in plain sight, and someone reported it, afraid that someone might break into the car."
"Was anything taken from her purse?"
"You would know better than I, but I suspect no...
