I look in the mirror

But there is another face

Staring back at me

That is not my own

Who is this person in the mirror?

She does all the same things I do

She moves, she yells

She dances, she sings

Just as I do

I thought it was a joke at first

But it doesn’t appear to be

I’ve asked all my friends, my family, too

They are beginning to wonder

If I’ve gone mad

I cannot give in to this

I cannot be locked away

So I will endure

I will accept the disbelief of my loved ones

I will accept this new face

Staring back at me
