I grabbed one of the large wrenches and put it behind the seat. I'd never tried to drive a forklift before, but once I got on, the controls seemed pretty simple. At first I thought it wasn't even going to start, but it finally roared to life on the third try, and I drove it around the office and parked it about five feet from the door. I killed the engine and listened to make sure the two men were still outside.
“Did you hear that?” one of them said.
“Hear what?” said the other with obvious annoyance.
