“The deer took off running at the same moment I did, and in one smooth motion it jumped over a fence and bolted off at full speed. I wasn't even sure I could catch it in my weakened state, but I pursued it anyway, quickly closing the distance. It took three tries, but I was finally able to wrap my arms around the beast, holding on as tight as I could, knowing if I failed I wouldn't get another chance. I pulled hard and threw it off balance and we rolled onto the ground together, the deer's full weight against my chest knocking the wind out of me.
