CHANNILLO
The Renaissance Project
By Ashley Grafton

Series Description:

Over 25,000 years in the future, Caterina is one of the remaining teens in the first generation of The Renaissance Project. Chosen for their genetic superiority and raised by artificial intelligence robots, the "First Gens" must save the human race by colonizing Terra, a planet in a neighboring galaxy. 100 First Gens were thawed, but sixteen years later, only 27 have survived.  A council was created to ensure order in the new society on Terra, and each person is assigned an occupation, or role, to ensure their joint survival. Caterina is different. She's what the council calls "Variant," or someone who experiences human emotions such as empathy, love, remorse, and guilt. She knows there are others like her, but her survival is dependent on keeping her emotions a secret. With the help of her trusted friends, Caterina will form a plan to escape the council and create a new life for herself and the other Variants where they can thrive-- the way their ancestors on Earth intended.
