Days passed and everyone treated her nicely, with an almost assumptive politeness. Perhaps it was her default setting to distrust these people, simply because she didn’t know them. She reasoned it was something more, mostly due to the fact that the crumbling building and filthy wallpaper gave off a creepy vibe. Mikael would make fun of her for her concerns, and it was him that she missed in those moments of weakness. He wouldn’t be of much help to her, being so far away and completely off limits. She immediately resolved to no longer think of him, forgetting that they ever had anything more than a friendship. It hurt, but it was for the best.
