Mikael stuck his hands in his pockets, willing the thoughts to leave his head. There were plenty of reasons to not dwell on the past, their past, but he just couldn’t. The sand, the waves all brought with them the feeling of that summer, their hands entwined and hearts shared. Of course, that was before she’d realized what she was and how far beneath her he was. Digging his heel into the sand he pivoted, realizing he hoped someone was there to take his anger out on. He was alone. The sun glared in empathetic anger and he could feel his skin sizzle under the rays. How could he have seen it coming when she’d come to him scared and confused, that she needed someone to trust to keep her safe? The news gave him a false hope and he’d lashed out. The bitterness and frustration had come in curt sentences...
