The snow in the land where she came from was bright and pure and inviting. Evergreen trees littered the blanket like little punctuation marks in the statement of perfection. She was running in it, playing as a child. The thick burgundy coat had white fleece lining that stuck out of her sleeves like a little border trim. Her mittens were grey like a rainy afternoon but her focus was on the little snow castle she’d been building all winter. The light was brighter there, in the land of her memory. Of course, her memories of her homeland were not entirely this fond. After all, if they were, she would have stayed and would never have met Josh.
