with it. Julianna held her breath for several seconds, waiting for the clouds to pass by and the moonbeam to reappear onto the floor…and it did eventually, but her father never came back with it. He was gone, perhaps gone for good.
Julianna waited a couple minutes longer, and when her father still hadn’t reappeared she grabbed her candle and tiptoed right across the spot on the floor where he had been standing. The moment she was beyond it, however, she ran like the dickens back to her room where she jumped into bed and slipped completely beneath the covers.
