There were no more organ loft murders after the debacle of Thursday, October 30th, 1879. Olivier Laverne had a long and distinguished career as Organist and Choirmaster at the Parish Church, maintaining and at times exceeding the standards set down by Tommy Burchill.

Within three months, Percy Banks had left Hartley to become Bishop of Ayton-on-Hebble. Rose Banks continued to look after the family and play the part of a Bishop’s wife. She took up the organ, having lessons from the newly appointed Organist and Master of the Choristers, Stanford George, who gained the degree of Mus Doc in 1882. The new See was located at Wakefield in a straight competition with Halifax.
