‘So, what do you make of the head being sawn off after death, Sergeant?’
‘I don’t know sir. I suppose it could be to hide the victim’s identity.’
Wright Watson lit a pipe and leaned back in his chair. As he puffed out the tobacco smoke, the Detective Chief Inspector tried to take in the facts surrounding the latest death.
‘That makes sense, Makepeace: no head, no name, no clothes, no obvious identifying features.’ Watson looked at his number two, ran his hand through his hair, cleared his throat, then continued. ‘Do you think that this victim had anything to do with the organ loft murders, Harry?’
The Detective Sergeant shrugged. ‘I have no idea, sir; there is no evidence either way, is there?’
