I think I’m a ghost, but I’m not sure. I’d know if I was a ghost, wouldn’t I? Or would I just wonder?

I don’t remember dying. I remember coming to Lim Falls for a weekend hike. I came alone  - I wanted it that way. Just me surrounded by green sounds and green smells. I became part of the mountains. It was wonderful to lose my sentience in this wild shimmer. At night I snuggled into a sleeping bag and listened to the sound of water in the distance.

I stayed longer than two days. I didn’t want to leave, and there are ways of surviving in the wild. Man is of the natural world after all.

I first realized that people were scared of me on the night of the rainstorm. I usually stay away from other hikers, but that night they’d set up camp...
