My heart jumped in response. As I began hyperventilating, black slime oozed from my forearms. A single beep rang off in my head, then four quick ones. They scared me. The slime began to gush out copiously. I fell to my knees, trying to calm down. I couldn’t hear what anyone was saying. They couldn’t reach me because of the surrounding, black, viscous pond, and the beeps only became more rapid. I strained to lift my head so I could see the approaching danger, but I was paralyzed. The beeping came to a tune-fork chime,
I felt calm.
I looked behind, but found no one.
I looked ahead, and found a bleeding knight. It held an iridescent sword.
