I mumbled something and returned to the task at hand—
‘Looks like I won’t be bringing a treat home for little Jimmy.’ I glared over at Kaza and she glared back. ‘Wha—‘
‘That’s too bad. The kid really does deserve a treat…’ I saw the monster pinned down, defeated as the blob slowly devoured its body. The voice grew weaker, and the beast shut his eyes.
‘I hope he doesn’t come looking for me this way,’ The creature’s voice became a sleepy yawn. ‘He… really… shouldn’t…’ The voice died off as the gargoyle was absorbed by the dark abyss.
Kaza looked on in consternation....
