There are some movies that are geared for a certain audience, obvious or not, blockbuster or not. A breakout success has transcended its genre. So when the studio backed a screenplay, started casting, filming, scoring, all the insane amount of things that go into making a movie, they had an end game in mind. What I’m fascinated by right now are the movies for artists. There are several recent ones to choose from. But what kicked off my need to write about it was the movie Whiplash. Which should have gotten the Best Picture. But I digress.
