Chapter 15

Brett Harris looked all of his fifty-one years when Markus visited. Markus was accompanied by another officer because Markus wanted a witness to proceedings. His partner was an inexperienced young fellow called Robert Puni who sported neatly combed black hair. Markus was pleasantly surprised when he was first introduced to Puni, a neat and well-mannered individual. He didn’t imagine there were many young men who fitted this description these days. But then Markus, through all his years observing people, was cynical about human nature.
