Markus brought in two mugs of coffee and handed one to Roger who was gazing at the desk top computer’s wallpaper picture of an attractive woman with sculptured legs and high heels. “Is this your work computer?”
“No, I have a laptop in the study. This one I use for games. Not that I play them much. Take a seat.” Markus figured Roger was envious. He was late thirties, also divorced, unfit, over-worked and ready for a heart attack.
When the two men were facing each other, Markus asked how the department was operating. He didn’t really want to know, just thought it was the decent thing to ask. Was Roger here on a social call? He doubted it.
“Fine mate. Busy as hell. You know what it’s like. You don’t miss it, do you?”
“Not at all...
