Rodney Hurst accompanied Markus to level 16 of the building at 101 Collins Street. Collins Street was considered by many to be Melbourne’s premier street and Markus could understand why. It was wide with some of the country’s finest Victorian era buildings lining both sides. Apart from having the most prestigious boutiques and high-end retailers, between Elizabeth and King Streets, Collins Street also featured the financial heart of the city.
Markus and Hurst emerged from the elevator at 10.10am. The blonde receptionist provided a false smile when the two men approached. She was doing something to her nails, Markus noted, realising they were an interruption to the process.
“May I help you?” she said.
