Bryan Carter was miserable. He sat at home, in a comfortable armchair, feeling sorry for himself. He wore a sling to protect his shoulder. He had to inform the tennis club he wouldn’t be available for matches for some time to come. After a few weeks had passed, he was informed, he needed to attend physiotherapy as well as hydrotherapy sessions and the length of time for rehabilitation was unknown. It could range from six to twelve months the specialist predicted. He hated to be inactive and, in his current condition, it was unlikely that he going to meet any more women from ‘Cheaters’. He put his book aside and closed his eyes.
