All today’s newspaper articles were scathing of police efforts and wondered how these atrocities could persist whilst an individual had been arrested for these very crimes. The articles also warned women to be wary of strangers and almost went so far as to suggest that they weren’t safe in Sydney anymore. What should they do, thought Markus? Flee to Brisbane or Perth? Clearly the killer had done a fair job in Melbourne, completely undetected.
