Chapter 36

                Two weeks passed. No further news of murders came to light. Markus still possessed the computers of the victims. He thought he should get someone to take them and either return them to family or whatever the department decided but pondered whether he should wait another week or so. There was no rush as far as he could judge.

                His phone rang somewhere. He searched for it in the living room and the kitchen and found it in the bedroom. By that time it was too late to answer the wretched thing. He checked the screen and saw it had been Penelope. He called back but found that she was on the phone. He waited, tried again. No luck. He took a shower....
