At seven-forty he donned his jacket and walked out of the hotel. He was furious. This had turned his day from good to horrible. He walked and walked and as he neared the Brooklyn in George Street he wondered whether he should check whether Adam and his friends were still inside. On an impulse he entered the bar. He searched and finally came across Adam with one other ex-colleague, John Tower, a tall bespectacled man with a loose tie and large ears.
“You made it,” said Adam Wilton who appeared surprised. He had worked with Errol whereas Tower had been in the same department but had not worked closely with Errol.
“Just passing. Thought I’d drop in to see what you were up to.” Errol shook their hands and sat on a stool next to Wilton.
