Chapter 21

Penelope was still in Melbourne. She agreed to accompany her sister to the medical oncologist. She’d slept in. It was now Tuesday and she reflected on the last few days which were not much fun. After Markus had been called away she had taken a taxi to Carolyn’s and there found her sister already asleep. On the Sunday Penelope awoke around nine o’clock. She stumbled out of bed and walked to the bathroom in a daze. She heard Carolyn who was already up and doing something in the kitchen.

When Carolyn realised Penelope was awake, she called out, “Just in time for pancakes.”

“Ok, give me a few minutes.”
