The dead woman was soon identified as Jodie Thomas.

In examining the body of Jodie to confirm the medical examiner’s initial findings, the coroner   discovered something which he could only classify as odd.  A missing tooth. Extracted crudely by an implement like a set of pliers or a bottle opener. He had never seen anything like it before. He reported this to the Police Department charged with the investigation and they in turn informed Markus Doppler. His recent recruitment and the reason for it had been communicated to all Sydney police stations.
