This week has been surprisingly profitable. Now that’s a sentence I don’t write often. The life of a librarian is not a wealthy one, not in monetary terms anyhow, although I’d argue we earn in different ways. I mean, I was feeling pretty good about my job after I helped Sylvia to find a home for her and baby Chloe in Kitty’s house. They’re getting on great by all accounts.

Kitty hasn’t shared with me how Sylvia ended up in the women’s refuge in the first place, and that’s fair enough, not her story to tell, but I’m glad that Sylvia confided in her.
