Although we librarians pride ourselves on being information scientists who can always discover the answer to any question, there are limits. Our small public library doesn’t contain all the books ever published, much to the surprise of some readers. I don’t know everything. But I can get an answer, given enough time.

I’m still learning. This week proved that point.

There is a woman, in her thirties, called Sylvia who comes to Saturday Story Time with her baby. The baby is about a year old, but I’m not an expert on these things. I only knew Sylvia’s name because she introduced herself afterwards one week and asked for help with the computers. She had the general idea, but wasn’t sure about how to log on. I explained that she’d need to use her membership number.
