“Dodging work again, eh?” asked Linda as I passed the desk with my bag of books.

“Hardly, I’ve three deliveries, should be back soon.”

“Well for you.” She turned the page of her celebrity gossip magazine.

There was no way Linda would cycle to deliver books to house-bound library patrons, it’s far too close to actual work. We are never busy on a Tuesday afternoon so it wasn’t like I was leaving her in the lurch. If she kept up her sarcastic comments, I could easily re-schedule book deliveries to a busy day.

Thankfully the sun was shining in that clear blue sky we get in September. There was a slight breeze and not a hint of rain, perfect cycling weather. I called to my new book bike customer first. He was a middle aged man recovering...
