Being an adult is over-rated. Days when I get to glue and stick with children at a craft workshop, decorate the library, or go on an adventure with Alex are far better than days when I file my tax return or research grants at work. Days like those are dull, but unavoidable. The trick is, I reckon, to either have a reward at the end of day (my approach tonight) or to inject as much silliness along the way as possible (my approach today).

Alex didn’t escape adulting today either. He brushed off his one and only suit, normally deployed for weddings and christenings, and headed to Kildare for his interview at the Sports Ireland Archive. He rang me afterwards for the debrief.
