The dreaded day arrived yesterday. Dreaded by me, hotly anticipated by Linda.

“These are going to revolutionise the library,” she said as the library maintenance team wheeled in the self checkout machines.

“Where do you want them?”

Boss Lady directed their location and installation. We’d already had extra wiring done so there was power available at the right spot. They now sit to the right of the doors, before you go up the stairs. It’s directly across from our desk so we can watch the robots taking our jobs.

The lads trundled off to continue their day and the three of us stood looking at them. Two new robot overlords.
