I spend far too much time thinking about gifts for librarians. Partly it’s selfish as my parents ask me what I’d like for Christmas or my birthday, and partly it’s kind as I ponder what I might get Alex. His birthday is coming up soon and I’m stumped. The only thing he’s into really is rowing and it’s not like I can spring for a canoe or rowing machine. I checked, those contraptions are expensive. Way outside my budget.

I’d been thinking of getting something nice like a night away, but now that we’re going to Italy in the summer all my spare cash is going to that because the TV work, while fun, was not as well paid as everybody thinks. Linda is convinced I’m minted.

Anyhow, today I decided that all gifts to librarians should arrive in little pink gift bags....
