Boss Lady caught me calling this year’s Transition Year student “the victim” in conversation with Linda last week and wasn’t impressed. “Nina, I expected better from you. The students who come here to try out library work gain a lot of valuable experience which will help them find paid work in future.”

Linda chimed in at that point. “Such as?”

Boss Lady paused for a moment and moved into prime boss waffle mode. “Public relations, punctuality, time management, organisational and communication skills, to name but a few.”

Linda raised an eyebrow in a less than believing fashion. “Of course.”
