Politics can be contentious.
Yeah, that’s an understatement.
My parents brought me up to believe it’s bad manners to discuss politics, religion, or money. Now I’m not saying I always obey that rule. I had some great debates about all three when I was a student, but it’s probably not great for small-talk or to bring up at a job interview.
We haven’t had local elections here in Castle Bailey since I started work at the library but I’m registered to vote and mainly thanks to Linda’s knowledge of everybody’s personal business I have at least a basic idea of the main candidates and which locals to avoid talking to about politics.
No surprise that Gerry Daly tops that list. He is holding grudges that date back to the Irish civil war in 1922. Anyhow...
