Sometimes Boss Lady has a good idea.

The Human Library was one of her best. Strictly speaking it wasn’t her idea, she came across it in a journal she subscribes to, but it was her idea to borrow it and adapt it for Castle Bailey.

Usually libraries are where you borrow books. Our library also has magazines, movies, art, and vinyl records to borrow, but books are the core of the concept. In a Human Library you borrow humans. Linda, of course, reckoned that was marvellous. She could borrow somebody to change the sheets, dig her garden, and iron her clothes.

“No, that’s not how it works,” said Boss Lady. “You can’t bring them home and you certainly can’t use them as slaves.”
