Watching your favourite teddy bear on national television is a strange experience, even when surrounded by your colleagues and friends. I never thought I’d be sitting in the community meeting room watching Bob the Library Bear make his screen debut.

I could almost imagine Bob smiling on his red plush cushion in the front row, but I couldn’t see from my spot against the wall at the back of the room. Despite all my counting I had made one crucial error. I’d forgotten to give myself a seat. At least the rudimentary sound system I’d rigged was working. If I could hear from down the back then everybody could hear.
