There is something so cheerful about the sight of Booky McBookFace, our mobile library unit, parked up in the Library HQ yard. She has beautiful paintwork of giant books and cartoon children sitting in bean bags with picture books in their hands. It makes people smile when we drive past and I often spot small children pointing at us or waving.

Sadly there aren’t any bean bags. I did suggest them to Imelda once but she said we didn’t have enough space for them and they would be hard to secure in the back.

I have a very clear idea about how much damage even one loose item can create thanks to our near miss and emergency stop the last time Alex and I took Booky out on the road. Alex tells me that he still has nightmares about that emergency stop. He was edgy about the driving this...
