It has been a dramatic week in the library and it was all my fault, or so Linda claims.

I asked her to do the re-shelving on Tuesday afternoon. I did the morning batch but another pile had built up on the returns trolley thanks to several library users dropping back large bags of books. When there are a few children in a family and the parents are readers too you’d be amazed how many books one parent, usually the mother, has to lug back to the library.

Linda wheeled the trolley away towards the children’s section and I continued to deal with queries at the issue desk. The library was busy. The printer was clattering away.
