Careful spellchecking and proofreading is a vital librarian skill and it wasn’t emphasised enough at university. They taught us about research, academic journals, event management, and more but somehow it slipped their mind to warn us that if you have Gerry Daly reading your library mail shots you better “cross your T’s and dot your I’d” or face dire consequences.

Don’t even think about misplacing an apostrophe or semi-colon unless you want to be tortured for months.
